Dr. Li-Qiong Wang will introduce Chemistry and Art: a course developed at Brown University that integrates collaborative, student-led, and interdisciplinary methodologies. Taught by faculty from multiple disciplines, the Chemistry and Art course and its development demonstrate the positive impact of combining methodologies on student engagement and educational outcomes. Dr. Wang will showcase the model used for the course, highlighting its adaptability and scalability.
Dr. Kumar Pial Das will present the NSF-funded multidisciplinary biotechnology workforce initiative at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. This initiative provides high-impact practices such as undergraduate research and internship experience, building on a cohort model that consists of both non-STEM and STEM students. Dr. Das will outline how this approach leads to a more innovative biotechnology industry.
