Tamara Tate, Ph.D.

Tamara Tate is Associate Director of the Digital Learning Lab. Her research focuses

on technology-supported learning, secondary and post-secondary school-based digital literacy interventions, and analysis of digital writing. Tamara leads the Lab’s work on generative AI and writing in secondary and post-secondary settings. As the PI of an NSF-funded grant, she is studying the use of generative AI in undergraduate upper division writing courses. She is also part of an intersegmental team looking at enhancing academic writing and digital literacy across the University of California, California State University, and California Community College Systems under a California Education Learning Lab AI Grand Challenge grant. Tamara received her B.A. in English and her Ph.D. in Education at U.C. Irvine and her J.D. at U.C. Berkeley.
