Dr. Neal Grandgenett is the Associate Dean & Dr. George and Sally Haddix Community Chair of STEM Education at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Dr. Grandgenett teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in interdisciplinary STEM learning, data driven decision making, evaluation and research methods. Dr. Grandgenett also leads the UNO STEM Leadership team in various campus initiatives. He is Associate Director of the STEM Teaching, Research, and Inquiry-Based Learning Center (STEM TRAIL). His efforts at UNO have helped to establish dual pathways for P12 STEM teacher certification that are collaborative across colleges and his community efforts have engaged thousands of teachers and other campuses in efforts such as learning with robotics, wearable technology and biomechanics-related educational technologies. His statewide work recently resulted in a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Nebraska Association of Teachers of Mathematics.

In over 30 years at UNO, he has taught 204 classes, served on 57 doctoral dissertations and on 42 master thesis committees. Dr. Grandgenett’s research interests align closely with his teaching and focus on the investigation technology-based learning in STEM Education, where he has authored over 150 articles and research papers, as well as five book chapters and one book. Dr. Grandgenett has been a Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator on more than $20,000,000 in federal grants, including 15 different National Science Foundation grants. Dr. Grandgenett’s teaching, research,and service efforts at UNO have resulted in various recognitions, including the University of Nebraska Outstanding Teaching and Instructional Creative Activity Award, UNO Chancellor’s Medal, the alumni Teaching Award, the Distinguished Research and Creativity Award, the Peter Kiewit Professorship, the Paul Kennedy Diamond Professorship, the Nebraska Technology Professor of the Year Award, and the NASA Mission Home Award. Dr. Grandgenett is also a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran (Sergeant) and a former Middle School Mathematics teacher
