Mikelle Nuwer is a Teaching Professor in the UW School of Oceanography, where she
introduces more than 1200 students a year to the field of marine sciences. In her classes, she integrates topics across biology, physics, chemistry, and geology to explore how ocean processes vary over different time and space scales, providing a comprehensive understanding of the dynamic ocean system and the impacts of climate change on our oceans. She is a current lead of the UW College of the Environment’s Teaching Support Team, a former lead and coach for the Evidence-Based Teaching Program, and a former Teaching Technology Fellow. Mikelle is a recipient of the UW Distinguished Teaching Award and the College of the Environment’s Commitment to Diversity award.
