M. Diane Clark earned her PhD from the University of North Carolina Greensboro in
developmental psychology. She has taught at Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania, Gallaudet University in Washington DC, and is currently a full professor and department chair at Lamar University in Texas within the department of Deaf Studies and Deaf Education. Her research focuses on how deaf individuals process language and their cognition processes with a special focus on language acquisition. She was part of the team that developed the Visual Communication and Sign Language Checklist (VCSL) and the Spoken Language Checklist (SLC).
