Associate Professor and Interim Associate Dean in Residence

Krishna Pakala, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering at Boise State University in Boise, Idaho.

Currently, he serves as the Interim Associate Dean in Residence for the College of Innovation and Design at Boise State. Dr. Pakala previously directed the Industrial Assessment Center and served as Faculty in Residence for the Engineering and Innovation Living Learning Community from 2014 to 2021. He was also the inaugural Faculty Associate for Mobile Learning and later held the role of Faculty Associate for Accessibility and Universal Design for Learning.

Dr. Pakala has been recognized with numerous prestigious awards, including the Foundation Excellence Award, the David S. Taylor Service to Students Award, and the Golden Apple Award from Boise State University. Nationally, he was honored with the 2023 National Outstanding Teacher Award, the ASEE Pacific Northwest Outstanding Teaching Award, and the ASEE Mechanical Engineering Division’s Outstanding New Educator Award, along with several accolades for course design excellence.

In addition to his teaching and administrative roles, Dr. Pakala has served as a campus representative and past Chair for the ASEE Pacific Northwest Section. His academic research focuses on innovative teaching and learning strategies, leveraging emerging technologies, and advancing mobile teaching and learning methodologies.
