Kelly Elkins is Professor of Chemistry and Forensic Science at Towson University. She is a biochemist by training and has conducted research funded by NIST on DNA training in forensic labs. She has led forensic chemistry and forensic biology education through teaching, curriculum development, and research mentoring for the past 20 years and is the author and editor of 8 books.  She is a Fellow at the TU Faculty Academic Center of Excellence leading Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) and supporting faculty though workshops, consultations, and programs on AI, grant writing, international education, and scholarly writing accountability. She is also Senior Fellow for SoTL for the University System of Maryland Kirwan Center for Teaching and Learning mentoring faculty and faculty teams engaged in SoTL research.  Elkins is co-PI on the IUSE grant described here. She served as Forensic Program Director at MSCD for two years and as a faculty member at Armstrong Atlantic State University in Georgia and Metropolitan State College of Denver in Colorado.
