Keith Sverdrup, Ph.D.

Dr. Sverdrup is a program director in the Division of Undergraduate Education at the National Science Foundation where he serves as the lead program director for the Improving Undergraduate STEM Education: Education and Human Resources (IUSE: EHR) Program. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Geophysics from the University of Minnesota and his PhD in Geoscience from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California-San Diego where he participated in multiple research cruises throughout the Pacific Ocean basin. He was on the faculty of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) for 36 years as Professor of Geophysics (seismology). Keith served as a program officer at NSF for six years while at UWM. After retiring from UWM he returned to NSF EHR/DUE. Keith is the author of three introductory oceanography textbooks and 60 papers and abstracts on seismology and tectonics. He is a life member of the American Geophysical Union and a Fellow of the Geological Society of America.
