
Kathleen Vongsathorn, D.Phil.

Dr. Vongsathorn is an associate professor of History at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. She teaches courses on
such topics as “Decolonizing Health and Science,” “Women, Health, and Science in History,” and “Global Health and African History.” She is a Co-PI on this National Science Foundation grant for improving undergraduate STEM education. Her historical research is focused on health histories in Uganda, in particular on leprosy control as a case study for understanding successes and failures in medical humanitarianism, and on the role of women in influencing people’s changing health-seeking behavior in twentieth-century Uganda.
