Dr. Emma Goodwin is an NSF STEM Education Research Postdoctoral Fellow and
works with Dr. Sara Brownell as part of the Research for Inclusive STEM Education Center at Arizona State University. Her research focuses on inclusion and equity issues in undergraduate research experiences, including both traditional faculty-mentored research experiences and course-based undergraduate research experiences (CUREs). She received a PhD in Biology Education Research from Portland State University, where she conducted research on the experiences of both students and their graduate teaching assistants in CUREs. Dr. Goodwin has developed and/or taught CUREs at three different institutions at the introductory and upper-division levels, on CURE research topics in the fields of microbiology, virology, behavioral ecology, and biology education research.
