Betty Calinger is a senior project director at AAAS in the Inclusive STEMM Ecosystems for Equity & Diversity (ISEED) unit.

She supports NSF-funded projects that prepare preservice educators to teach STEM in high-need schools through the Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program and is the managing editor of the ARISE Adaptations Blog series that shares promising practices related to the preparation of STEM teachers for high-need school districts. Calinger also manages initiatives that build science literacy for all children in formal and informal settings through partnerships with STEM professionals, K-12 schools, and community-based organizations. These include the AAAS STEM Volunteer Program assisting teachers in schools in the DC metro area and the AAAS STEMM Ambassadors engaging children in low resourced communities through a summer science program.

Calinger has served as the co-principal investigator for grants supporting the NSF Graduate STEM Fellows in K-12 Education program and managed several grants providing professional development to middle school teachers in the mid-Atlantic region.
