Dr. Ana Fraiman is Professor Emerita in Chemistry at Northeastern Illinois University (Chicago, Illinois).
She implemented the Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL) program, first in in Organic Chemistry, and with colleagues in her department, developed the program in General Chemistry and Physical Chemistry. From there, the PLTL Workshop model was disseminated to the departments of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science.
Dr. Fraiman is a Board member of the Peer-Led Team Learning International Society (www.pltlis.org), is an editor of the PLTLIS Workbook Series, and served as chief editor of the Organic Chemistry 1 workbook, the first publication of the PLTLIS Press. She has published and presented extensively. She recently facilitated and coordinated the STEAM initiative at NEIU, which developed seven courses as part of an initiative to implement a minor in STEAM.
As a Latina member of the faculty, Dr. Fraiman has sought opportunities to mentor minorities within the Sciences. She has participated in several panels for Latina Women in Sciences at NEIU.
