This project is the work of a partnership of four institutions: University of Maryland Baltimore County (high research, doctoral-degree granting public institution, enrollment approximately 14,000 students, undergraduate and graduate teacher preparation); University of Kentucky, (very high research, land-grant institution, enrollment of 30,000+ students, undergraduate and graduate teacher preparation); University of Central Florida (very high research, Hispanic Serving Institution, enrollment of 68,000+ students, undergraduate and graduate teacher preparation); and Berea College (private, liberal arts institution, enrollment 1600 students, undergraduate teacher program). These four very diverse institutions in three states have developed an initial teacher preparation challenge space (e.g., vision, mission, goals, strategies). As the project has progressed, contextual issues have been better understood, revealing the institutions were capable of being far more unified in how they prepared teachers. Differences have not become a barrier but a rich area of study. This workshop will share how this framework was used to guide teacher preparation efforts across these four institutions, support the contextual differences, and manage the connections and differences among the four implementations.
