In this project we used a process of co-design with a cohort of engineering educators to develop and test a new VR learning tool in a diversity of undergraduate institutions. Once usability and feasibility were established, we leveraged an Evidence Centered Design to construct a 27 dimensional assessment of student thinking based on the ways they interact with the activity, and are using educational data mining approaches to explore usage patterns that lead to design improvements using telemetry data. The project is now public, undergoing another iteration of development, and is preparing for a full study during the Fall 2024 semester.
