Abstract: This research explores the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and interactive learning activities in a General Biology course to improve student outcomes. Drawing from previous findings on the efficacy of interactive methods, we implemented ChatGPT’s AI alongside interactive activities in the curriculum. Our study evaluates student performance and perceptions through diverse metrics, including attendance, forums, homework, and exams. Results indicate a positive reception and enhanced engagement, as evidenced by course surveys. The incorporation of ChatGPT’s AI and interactive learning not only prepares students for academic pursuits but also equips them for future workforce demands. This transformative approach enriches teaching and learning experiences, fostering deeper comprehension and skill development. Future initiatives will expand on these insights, integrating more innovative technologies to further elevate student success in biology courses. Keywords: General Biology, artificial intelligence, interactive activities, student performance and perceptionFunding: This work received support from the National Science Foundation (NSF) under NSF-IUSE, Grant # 2142465 at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, Tallahassee, FL, U.S.A.
