The Roundtable on Systemic Change in Undergraduate STEM Education is run by the Board on Science Education at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine to link stakeholders across STEM disciplines and institution types. It engages STEM faculty, education researchers, and higher education leaders to highlight innovative and promising approaches to undergraduate STEM education that can make undergraduate learning experiences more inclusive, equitable, and effective for students. The Roundtable is currently focusing on three priority areas in their work, creating caring “student-ready” institutions, understanding the components of the undergraduate STEM education ecosystem, and leadership for cultural change. This talk will present an update on the Roundtable’s current efforts and plans to produce resource to anchor challenging and productive conversations on campuses. To inform future work of the Roundtable, we welcome input from IUSE PIs on the aspects of the system of undergraduate STEM education you feel are most in need of attention.
